Mt. Cangyan

Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei Province, is situated 250 kilometer southwest of Beijing. It is one of the most important hubs of the railway and the chief base of the textile industry. It is 15,848 square kilometer in area. The population is 8.6 million. In the west of Shijiazhuang is the hilly country of Taihang Mountain. This part occupies 40% of the area. In the east is Hutuo River Plain. This part occupies 60%.The west mountain area, abounds in mineral resources. Mainly, there are coal, iron, lime, marble, spar and asbestos.

Textile, chemical industry and engineering industry are the 3 most important industries. In China, the output of cotton and cotton yarn are in the first place. Pharmacy and petroleum process are the most important parts in chemical industry. The medicine output value also is one of the bases of supplying high quality cooking coal refining. In agriculture, there is wheat, corn, cotton, meat and fruits. The railway and the highway system here are both well developed.

Mt. Cangyan is one of the places of interest in China. And there are some other famous places too. Such as Fuqing Temple, Zhengding ancient city, Longxing Temple, Hua Tower and so on.


Mt. Cangyan

Mt. Cangyan with its peak of an altitude of 1,000 m is located 80 kilometer southwest of the Shijiazhuang City. Covering an area of 63 square kilometer, this area is characterized by temples, pagodas and cypress trees, owning a reputation of "possessing all the elegance and grotesque of the 5 famous mountains in China".

Mt. CangyanFuqing Temple, first built in the Sui dynasty, is the magnum opus of the ancient structures on this mountain. It was said that it was the place where Princess Nanyang, daughter of Emperor Yang of the Sui dynasty, practiced Buddhism.

This temple, magnificent and grand in its structure, comprises Qianlou Hall, Temple of Princess Nanyang, Mt. Cangshan College, Wanxian Hall, Fenghui Hall, Make-Up Tower and Yuhuang Summit.

Making good use of the topography, these buildings stand upright on the cliff, summit, or in the valley, being a remarkable masterpiece of China's ancient temple architecture. Qiaolou Hall (Bridge-Tower Hall) is the main structure of Fuqing Temple. Situated on a stone arch bridge which spans the cliffs, this hall is 70 m above the ground and looks majestic and astonishing. Under the bridge are more than 360 stone stairs, resembling a Heavenly Ladder, lead up to the summit of the mountain.
